DAN GORDON
Director of Upward Bound
Dan
Gordon has been the Director of UB since 1990. During the academic
year, he coordinates the Seacoast-area enrichment activities and
is the UB Advisor for students at Somersworth and Dover High
Schools.
Dan's background includes teaching Philosophy
and English Composition at the college level. He's also managed a small farm
and worked as a logger and a carpenter. He loves working with teenagers and
believes in Upward Bound because of its exciting vision of education and its
deep commitment to social justice.
His personal passion is drawing and painting, and he takes classes and shows in this field whenever he can. Dan tempers his artistic pursuits with hiking, gardening, running, and working out. He has two sons, Ivan and Silas, in their early twenties. They have taught him about the importance of being both a good parent and a good friend.
Dan has a B.A. in English Literature from Lafayette College, a Master's degree in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master's degree in Fiction Writing from the University of New Hampshire.
