Enrichment Activities

College Visits
Sign-ups for college trips are on a first-come, first serve basis. Preference is given to UB juniors and to UB seniors who are applying to one of these schools yet haven't visited. Please call or e-mail Laura Pellerin at the UB office ASAP to let us know if you want to attend a college trip.

SAT Registration Deadlines & Test Dates (2009-2010)

UNH Upward Bound requires that all students take the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) in May or June of their Junior year, and again in October or November of their Senior year. College Board SAT fee waivers are available through UB for all active UB juniors and seniors. Recommended test dates and registration deadlines are below:

SENIORS

September 9: Registration Deadline for SAT on October 10

October 1: Registration Deadline for SAT on November 7

JUNIORS

March 25 : Registration Deadline for SAT on May 1

April 29: Registration Deadline for SAT on June 5

 

ACT Information

Upward Bound offers fee waivers for Juniors and Seniors to take the ACT if they choose. Students should speak to their advisor if they are interested. More information is available at: www.act.org.

UB Winter Reunion
January 10, 2009. All Upward Bound students, staff and alumni are invited to attend. There will be a financial aid workshop for interested parents/guardians of UB students.

Senior Workshop
9:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 at the UNH Memorial Union Building.

All seniors are required to attend or be excused by Dan, Laura or MJ. Transportation is not provided, but free parking is available to seniors attending the workshop in B-Lot (across from Durham Marketplace). This workshop is focused on SAT preparation, college essays, college research and college applications.

National TRIO Day
TRIO Day is an annual gathering of students in New England TRIO programs. The location is in a different New England state each year.

Junior Workshop/Program Planning Retreat
May 2, 2009. All juniors are required to attend this workshop focused on the college admissions process, and planning for the upcoming summer.

Summer Program Orientation
Students and Parents/guardians, particularly of new students, are strongly encouraged to attend Orientation sessions. Date and time for 2009 Orientation is TBD.

College Fairs
All juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to attend college fairs in their area to learn about colleges across the U.S. and Canada.

Southern New Hampshire University: Tuesday, September 30 - 7:00-9:00pm & Wednesday, October 1 - 9:00-11:30am

University of New Hampshire Lundholm Gym: Thursday, September 25 - 7:00-9:00pm & Friday, September 26 - 9:00-11:30am
